Trail Colour Run Course Info
The Trail Colour Run will head into the trails for a 2.5km lap, heading through the tunnel under Wairakei Drive where you’ll get your first splash of colour. Hopefully covered in colour, you’ll head onto Express Delivery up to the Craters carpark.
On your way back, you’ll be winding your way through Tourist Trap, obviously taking on more colour! When you get back to where you started, it is your choice to finish after one lap or head back out and do a second lap.
START INFORMATION
5.45pm – safety briefing at the start line - please be there
6.00pm – mass start
COURSE MARKINGS
For the majority of the course, the tracks to follow are well established and obvious. However, when you need to turn off those tracks, you must follow all course signs and directions. Please follow the directions of marshals on course too. There is a two-way section of approximately 400m.
The course is marked with blue arrows showing the direction to run/walk and blue ribbons hanging from trees along your route. You will also see pieces of ribbon on the ground crossing a track/trail, do not cross these.
While we don’t have a cut off time for the Colour Run we ask for your awareness around the trails and make the call after finishing one lap whether to go back out for a second, due to the Multi-lap Night Run, starting at 7.30pm using the same 2.5km lap as the Trail Colour Run.
FINISHLINE
When you have finished your final lap you get to run up the finish line to collect your medal. We will have a drinks station here. Each participant can grab themselves a free cold Speight’s (over 18s!) or a non alcoholic beverage (thanks to Clean Collective) after you finish, head to the Festival Bar to grab one of these.
LIGHTS
We highly recommend you bring a headlight or torch, it may begin to get dark while you are out on your final lap and trails by nature are not a smooth surface!
AID STATIONS
There will be an aid station at the festival village containing water, R-Line, bananas, chips, and lollies.
FIRST AID
The course will have roving marshals and first aid. If you come across an injured person check they are ok, send someone forward to the next marshal for help. All marshals are in radio/phone contact with the Course Manager and medics from PEAK Safety. Anyone unable to finish the course will be transported back to the finish by Total Sport course crew.
First Aid is also provided by Peak Safety at the finish line.
We couldn’t do it without these absolute legends!
It’s really simple, these events don’t happen without the commitment and support of a whole bunch of cool people, and organisations that share the vision of what we are trying to achieve. We are so grateful to those who got on board, and believe, like we do, the benefits of getting people into the outdoors and nature - and for their support of Total Sport. Some of these partners have been with us for a very long time, and feel like family, and some are newbies. Please support them wherever you can, as their support enables us to do what we do, which means you get to do what you love to do - everyone wins!!
