Trails & Nature are at the ♥️ of the Festival
The Taupo Trail Festival concept was in the pipeline for quite a few years, and here at Total Sport we are beyond stoked to have finally brought this event to life in 2024!
We feel really privileged to be able to put on events that get like-minded people off the couch, and into some stunning, natural locations, to participate in these types of participation events. To be able to connect (with others, and ourselves) outside in nature is 100% where the magic happens. So, to be able to extend our philosophy into a 3-day trail-based festival is ridiculously exciting, for us, and hopefully you too!
So, back again for 2025 we have a number of awesome trail-based events (some new ones too) on offer over a 3-day period starting Friday 14th and finishing Sunday 16th March 2025.
Alongside the ‘events’, we wanted to create a really cool line-up of other things that we know lots of people love. So expect amazing food, craft beer, coffee, on-site retail, live music, wellness offeringsa kid’s activity zone, and of course it wouldn’t be a festival without a party!
How can I be part of the festival?
Getting involved in the Love Taupo Trail Festival is easy—just turn up and take part in any (or all) of the five trail-based events!
For the full experience, make a weekend of it (Fri-Sun) and soak up everything on offer. Beyond the events, there’s plenty happening at the festival hub, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
Go all in with a Festival Pass, packed with extras, or simply choose the activities that suit you best!

All ages and abilities are welcome! With a variety of distance options and beautifully maintained trails, there’s a course for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re new to the trails or a seasoned adventurer, the Taupo Trail Festival offers something for all levels. Come join us and experience the adventure
No more plastic cups!
As trail runners and Taupo lovers we’re keen to do our part to protect our beautiful region and reduce the environmental impact of our events. As such we’re removed disposable cups from all aid stations. Please remember your reusable cup, hydration pack or water bottle to fill up! We’ll have collapsible silicone cups available at event base for $5.
Medals for all finishers!
All finishers at the Taupo Trail Festival will be rewarded with a medal at the finish line, celebrating your achievement. Whether you're tackling your first trail or pushing your limits, we honor every participant’s effort with this special keepsake!
The Wi-fi’s not so good in the forest, but you’ll find a way better connection.

It’s really simple, these events don’t happen without the commitment and support of a whole bunch of cool people, and organisations that share the vision of what we are trying to achieve.
